Cookie policy
Last updated
This policy explains how Contimo’s advertising service uses cookies and similar technologies on partner publishers’ websites. Advertising consent is managed through the publisher’s consent management platform using the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework (TCF).
A separate section at the end explains cookies and analytics on contimo.io, including www.contimo.io. The Cookiebot control on this page applies only to that website; it does not manage consent for Contimo’s advertising service.
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. Similar technologies, such as local storage and session storage, can also remember information about a visit. We use these technologies to remember privacy choices, understand website use and measure advertising performance.

Cookies in advertising on publisher websites
To change or withdraw consent for Contimo advertising, open the cookie or privacy settings on the publisher’s website. In its IAB TCF consent banner, look for Contimo (vendor 1299) and adjust your choices there. The Cookiebot button on contimo.io cannot change those preferences.
The following cookies support Contimo advertising on partner publishers’ websites. This list does not mean that all four are set when you visit Contimo’s own website.

Advertising purposes and retention
- Store and/or access information on a device. We set and read the cookies listed above. Their lifetimes are shown in the table.
- Use limited data to select advertising. We choose a campaign based on the page, approximate location and device, without creating a profile of you. Personal data is retained for up to 365 days.
- Measure advertising performance. We count impressions, clicks, reading time and conversions, including to support invoicing advertisers. Personal data is retained for up to 365 days.
- Measure content performance. We measure how sponsored articles are read. Personal data is retained for up to 365 days.
- Understand audiences through statistics or combinations of data from different sources. We produce aggregate statistics across publishers and campaigns. Personal data is deleted or anonymised after 180 days.
- Develop and improve services. We improve delivery and optimisation features. Personal data is deleted or anonymised after 180 days.
- Use limited data to select content. We choose which sponsored article or teaser to show, without creating a profile of you. Personal data is retained for up to 365 days.
A cookie’s lifetime on your device is different from the retention period for the personal data processed for each purpose. After the applicable 180-day or 365-day period, only anonymous, aggregated statistics are kept, unless retention is required by law.
We do not create personalised advertising profiles, use precise geolocation or actively scan device characteristics.
Data used for advertising
Depending on the purpose and your consent, we process IP addresses; device characteristics such as browser, operating system and screen information; authentication-derived identifiers; page and interaction data such as impressions, clicks and reading time; approximate location derived from IP addresses; and privacy choices, including your TCF consent string.
Our role and your advertising consent
Contimo and the publisher whose website you visit are joint controllers for the advertising processing described here, except that Contimo is the independent controller for “Understand audiences” and “Develop and improve services”.
We carry out the seven advertising purposes only with your consent, under Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR and the Danish cookie rules. You give or refuse consent in the publisher’s consent banner. You can withdraw it at any time in the publisher’s cookie settings, and withdrawing should be as easy as giving consent. Changing consent on contimo.io does not change your choices on a publisher’s website.
Recipients and international transfers
Advertisers receive aggregated advertising reports only. Where personal data is transferred outside the EU/EEA, we use applicable safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework for covered recipients. See our privacy policy for information about service providers and transfers.
Your rights
Subject to the applicable conditions, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction of processing or a portable copy of your personal data, and you can object to processing. You can withdraw consent where processing relies on it. Contact privacy@contimo.io. You can also complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency, Datatilsynet.
Advertising labelling
Our advertising content is marked “Annonce” or “Sponsoreret”, together with the advertiser’s name. We do not run political advertising.

Cookies on contimo.io — website only
Necessary consent storage
On contimo.io, we use Cookiebot to manage and remember your website privacy choices. Its CookieConsent cookie stores your consent state so that the website can respect your preferences on later visits. This consent-management storage is separate from optional analytics. Cookiebot normally asks you to renew your consent after 12 months.
Statistics and session replay
We use PostHog to understand page visits, button and link interactions, scroll depth and demo-form activity. With statistics consent, it stores identifiers in browser local storage and session storage, and can record your interaction with the website using session replay. Form inputs are masked; network request bodies, headers and console logs are not recorded.
PostHog storage keys use the ph_ prefix and include a project-specific identifier. Local storage can persist across browser visits until it is cleared; session storage is limited to the browser tab’s session. Withdrawing statistics consent clears the website’s PostHog storage and stops session replay.
We also use the session-storage entry contimo_campaign_context, only with statistics consent, to remember campaign attribution during navigation. It is removed when statistics consent is withdrawn. UTM campaign tags may also be carried in internal links; those URL parameters are not cookies.
Before statistics consent, or after it is withdrawn, our PostHog integration uses cookieless analytics. It does not store PostHog identifiers in browser storage or record sessions. PostHog receives request information, including the IP address and browser user agent, to derive its cookieless identifier. Cookieless analytics still involves data processing; our privacy policy explains this in more detail.
